Pharmacology Overview
Pharmacology is the study of drugs or medicine. There are two main branches of pharmacology: Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics. Pharmacokinetics is defined as the study of what the body does to drugs — in other words, how drugs move around in the body, as suggested by the word ''kinetic.'' Pharmacodynamics is the study of what the drugs do to the body — the mechanisms that allow a given drug to work and its general effects.
The purpose of Pharmacology is to determine the effectiveness and safety of drugs designed to treat, prevent, or diagnose diseases. This includes the drug dosages, frequency of dosages, adverse effects, and how the drugs effect different populations of people.
The department of Pharmacology at Hindu college of Pharmacy, Guntur was established in the year 2000. The PG department (M.Pharm- Pharmacology) was established in the year 2010.
The department goal is to prepare outstanding students for productive and successful careers in Pharmaceutical industry, Academics, Research and Public sectors at National and International level.
