ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Pharmacognosy is the science of bioactive natural substances found in plants, animals, microbes and minerals. Researchers in this field investigate natural compounds, new therapeutic agents and also medicinal plants that include the subjects of botany, chemistry, and pharmacology.

Department is dedicated to the training of outstanding scientists in the natural product sciences and aims to contribute to the multidisciplinary drug research and development from natural products, using the rich flora Andhra Pradesh, India. Currently, the department has a complement of 3 faculty members including 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor and 1 Assistant Professor and also 2 laboratory staff. The teaching and research facilities in the department include standard laboratories with relevant equipment’s. This department has a great diversity of research areas available to trainees including phytochemistry, bio-assay, Phytopharmacology etc.

Pass in the following examinations
B.Pharm Degree examinations in an Indian University established by law in India from an institution approved by PCI and has scored not less than 55% of maximum marks (aggregate of 4 years B.Pharm).
Every student, selected for admission to post graduate pharmacy program in any PCI approved institution should have obtained registration with the State Pharmacy Council or should obtain the same within one month from the date of his/her admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.
Selection Criteria Through Merit and written test/ personal interview.
Indian Students : INR Rs. 2, 60,150/- ( I Year) and Rs 2, 56,150/- (II Year)
NRI Candidates : USD 10,820/-
After successful completion of PG in Pharmaceutical analysis, The graduates will be placed in
  • Research institutes as project assistants or research fellows.
  • Absorbed in pharmaceutical industries in AR&D.
  • In Quality control department of pharma industries.
  • Contract Research Organisation
  • Private drug testing Laboratories
  • As a faculty in Pharmacy institution
