ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Humanities plays a vital role in providing students with a well-rounded education that goes beyond the technical aspects of pharmacy practice. The Department of Humanities offers courses that explore cultural diversity, healthcare disparities, and cultural competence in patient care, preparing students to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Effective communication is crucial in pharmacy practice. Courses in the Department of Humanities focus on developing students’ verbal and written communication skills, including patient counseling, interprofessional communication, and professional writing. Humanities courses encourage students to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information from diverse sources, enhancing their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. These skills are essential for pharmacists to make informed decisions, critically evaluate scientific literature, and adapt to evolving healthcare challenges. The Department of Humanities offers opportunities for students to engage in reflective practice, self-assessment, and professional development activities. This may include seminars, workshops, and experiential learning opportunities aimed at fostering personal and professional growth, leadership skills, and lifelong learning habits.
