Our vision is to be globally recognized as a centre of excellence in pharmaceutics that creates, transmits and applies knowledge based on research in the basic & applied pharmaceutical sciences for the refinement of actual manufacturing processes to reach the ultimate goal of promoting human health through safe, efficacious & affordable pharmaceutical inventions.
To develop world class pharmacy graduates with capabilities and competencies to meet global pharmaceutical challenges and health care needs. To excel in teaching & research to make students acquire knowledge in the unique areas of art of designing different dosage forms and drug delivery systems through defining the physicochemical properties & outlining drug kinetics & dynamics with an awareness of manufacturing techniques ultimately reaching GMP standards. To polish the practical skills of the students, necessary for small and medium scale manufacturing of pharmaceutical products in the laboratory.
The department of Pharmaceutics is a place where a constant and continuous commitment to excellence in research, instruction and service is provided through the extraordinary efforts and success of our faculty, staff and students. It was established in 2007 as first PG course in the college. Department of Pharmaceutics has well qualified and experienced faculty of about 7 members. Among them 3 are doctorates and remaining faculty are pursuing Ph.D in various universities.
The department initiated the research activities in the field of pharmaceutical sciences which includes conventional and controlled drug delivery systems such as tablets, capsules, liquid orals, microcapsules, nanoparticles, niosomes, ocular drug delivery systems, transdermal drug delivery systems, gastroretentive drug delivery systems, in situ gels etc. Till now 14 batches of students were completed the course and are recruited by reputed research companies/ institutions or are pursuing higher studies abroad.
All pharmaceutics labs are well equipped with advanced equipment such as HPLC, Brookfield viscometer, 8-basket Dissolution apparatus, Cooling centrifuge and well established machine lab consisting of 16-station and 10-station rotary tablet punching machines, R and D Tablet coater, Multi Processor, Tray Dryer, Stability chamber, Colloid mill, Probe sonicator, Bath sonicator, etc.
The course is designed to integrate teaching, learning and understanding of pharmaceutical principles. There is a lot of scope for research from fundamental science of drug packing, stability, dosage forms and release control to complex molecular targeting and imaging modalities inside the body to modeling of drug action and therapeutic performance. Students will complete the course with knowledge and skills applicable for a variety of practical settings in dosage form design, manufacturing technology, drug stability, regulatory aspects, patents, quality control and quality assurance and concept of relevance between drug delivery optimization and therapeutic outcome. Current research directions and applications will also be included to reflect the latest development in pharmaceutics areas.
